Delaware State Police have charged a 38-year-old Dover man with the attempted burglary of an unoccupied Capitol Park home Friday night.
Police say neighbors called them just before 11 p.m. to report a man standing outside the home on South Governor Boulevard that was being renovated; police say the neighbors watched Jerome Nance remove a large AC unit which was attached to the home and then place it next to a fence in the yard; they last observed him walking down the street, wheeling a large black trash can.
Police caught up with Nance a short time later; he still had the trash can and police found a pair of shears used for cutting metal inside the can.?
Police say Nance also attempted to gain entry to the home by damaging a window screen and rear entry door.
He was arrested and committed to the James T.Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $7,000 bail.?
