A big day for the Capital Humane Society. They broke ground on their new $3 million dollar facility. You won't see bars or chain link fences at the new shelter. Most animals will be able to play and interact with each other.
It will provide space for both dogs and cats and will only be used for adopting new pets. It will be named after Mark Pieloch, one of the donors that helped make this dream a reality.
"As a child growing up,?I had dogs, cats, and horses...so pets have always been part of my life...when Bob?(Downey)?approached me with the dream he had of building this center?I wanted to do whatever?I could to make his dream come true," Pieloch said.
The new Animal Adoption Center will be located adjacent to the Home Depot near 70th and Highway 2.
